Description
In Norse legends of the soul ferry god, obsidian is the “broken waves of the Styx.”
A witch who served Hel once wove a cord from the hair of fallen warriors mixed with netherworld thorn vines, inlaid with obsidian touched by Hel’s fingertips, and adorned with beads ground from heroes’ remains and star emblems: 5 soul-ferrying incantations are locked in the knots, and the crystal’s core holds the echo of heroes’ battle roars.
It’s said that those who wear this necklace may see silver light flowing in the obsidian during the polar night—this is the trail of heroes heading to the hall of the gods. The witch’s vow is carved in the vine cord’s pattern: “Take the cord as a bridge, the crystal as a lamp, and guide the brave souls back to Valhalla.” The necklace’s cold glow will dim when touched by the cowardly: a qualification trial set by the ferry god.
